Switches & Dimmers that work with SmartThings: the 18 that do, and what each one can't do
18 of the 23 switches & dimmers in our library work with SmartThings: 15 for everything they list, and 3 with an exception named on each. Every one of them is listed here with the catch that applies on SmartThings specifically — the setup it needs, what stays stuck in the vendor's own app, and where SmartThings's automations can't reach a capability the device has.

Work for everything they list
IKEA BILRESA Remote Control (Dual Button)
IKEA's blanket Matter-systems statement naming Samsung; button-action depth per platform is not documented by IKEA, whose manual sends you to the other vendor for it ('check with the manufacturer for available features'). Thread border router on the Samsung side required.
GE Cync Paddle Dimmer Smart Switch (Matter)
Via Matter on the 2025+ Matter-generation SKUs only — GE's SmartThings support is Matter-only, so legacy WiFi/Bluetooth Cync switches have no SmartThings path at all.
Automations SmartThings's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Brightness and On/off.
Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Fan Speed Controller, 2nd Gen (D24SF-1BW)
Samsung's Works with SmartThings directory lists this fan speed controller (model D24SF) as a fan, so turning the fan on and off and setting its speed work in SmartThings. Neither Leviton nor Samsung says how it connects to SmartThings.
Inovelli Blue Series Smart Fan/Light Canopy Module (VZM36)
Requires a SmartThings hub with a Zigbee radio; Inovelli publishes a dedicated setup article.
Inovelli Blue Series 2-1 Smart Switch (VZM31-SN)
Requires a SmartThings hub with a Zigbee radio ('only certain hubs' per Inovelli's chart); Inovelli publishes official SmartThings setup instructions.
Inovelli White Series Smart Fan/Light Canopy Module (VTM36)
Inovelli lists SmartThings among the platforms the module works with ('Requires a compatible device', meaning a SmartThings hub with Thread acting as border router and Matter controller), and its product page names SmartThings among the platforms that support separate fan-speed and dimming control. The basis is Inovelli's own page; SmartThings publishes nothing for this model.
Automations SmartThings's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Brightness, Fan mode and On/off.
Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Switch, 15A (D315S)
Both companies now say it works, and there is one way in: Matter, through a SmartThings hub. Samsung's own partner directory lists this switch by its model number, and Leviton's instruction sheet says: 'For use with Samsung SmartThings, use Matter to set up your device in the SmartThings app and connect to a compatible Matter-enabled SmartThings Hub.' Unlike Alexa and Google, Leviton offers no account-linking route here, so if you do not already have a Matter-capable SmartThings hub, you will need one. That is a requirement of the platform rather than a limit of the switch, the same way Apple Home needs a HomePod or Apple TV, and on/off, which is this switch's whole job, comes through.
Automations SmartThings's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer, 2nd Gen (D26HD)
Listed by Leviton among supported ecosystems; cloud-linked, with Matter as an alternative path.
Lutron Caseta Diva Smart Dimmer (DVRF-6L)
Official Lutron-SmartThings integration. Lutron says it needs three things: a Lutron Smart Hub or Smart Hub PRO, at least one Lutron dimmer or shade, and a SmartThings hub of any generation.
Lutron Caséta Wireless In-Wall Switch (PD-5ANS)
Official Lutron-SmartThings integration. Lutron says it needs three things: a Lutron Smart Hub or Smart Hub PRO, at least one Lutron dimmer or shade, and a SmartThings hub of any generation. A limit of the system rather than of this switch: Caséta scenes cannot be imported into SmartThings.
Lutron Caséta Wireless In-Wall Switch (PD-5WS-DV)
Official Lutron-SmartThings integration. Lutron says it needs three things: a Lutron Smart Hub or Smart Hub PRO, at least one Lutron dimmer or shade, and a SmartThings hub of any generation. A limit of the system rather than of this switch: Caséta scenes cannot be imported into SmartThings.
Lutron Caséta Smart Fan Speed Control Switch (PD-FSQN)
Official Lutron-SmartThings integration. Lutron says it needs three things: a Lutron Smart Hub or Smart Hub PRO, at least one Lutron dimmer or shade, and a SmartThings hub of any generation. Caseta scenes cannot be imported into SmartThings.
Lutron Claro Smart Switch for Caséta (DVRF-5NS)
Official Lutron-SmartThings integration. Lutron says it needs three things: a Lutron Smart Hub or Smart Hub PRO, at least one Lutron dimmer or shade, and a SmartThings hub of any generation. Caseta scenes cannot be imported into SmartThings.
TP-Link Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer Switch KS225 (Matter)
Works with SmartThings per the official datasheet; Matter is an alternative path.
TP-Link Tapo S505 Smart Wi-Fi Light Switch
TP-Link says this switch is Matter-certified and lists Samsung SmartThings among its platforms. SmartThings supports on/off control for Matter devices, so turning the light on and off works in SmartThings over Matter.
Automations SmartThings's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
Work, with an exception
Philips Hue Smart Button
Works per the maker; details unconfirmed
Signify lists Samsung SmartThings among the systems this button works with, but does not say what the button can do there. The same list appears on every Hue product page, so treat it as a statement about the Hue system.
Fanimation fanSync AC Motor WiFi Receiver (WFR50)
Partial
Reachable, but only the long way round, and Fanimation says so itself: 'In order to connect with NEST, ECOBEE, Samsung Smart things, wink, etc. ... you must connect via IFTTT.' That means the fan is not a SmartThings device — it is a fanSync device that IFTTT can pass commands to, so it does not appear in SmartThings as a fan with speed control, automations route through a third company's service, and IFTTT's own account tiers govern how many of them you can run and how fast they fire. That is why we call it partial rather than supported. Fanimation publishes no SmartThings setup article, and Samsung's own materials do not name this product.
Zooz 800 Series Z-Wave Long Range Double Switch ZEN30 800LR (Light & Fan Combo)
Partial
Zooz's own manual names SmartThings among the four hubs it gives pairing instructions for, so the maker says the switch joins a SmartThings hub. It is rated partial rather than full because neither Zooz nor SmartThings says what SmartThings can do with it. On a two-load switch that matters: whether SmartThings shows the fan and the light as two separate controls is not stated. SmartThings' own partner list names a Zooz Double Switch ZEN30 without saying which version, so it is not counted for this 800LR model. How the connection runs depends on your SmartThings hub, not on this switch. The seller's listing adds that SmartThings needs a custom driver from Zooz.
If your home isn’t only SmartThings
Of the 15 in the first group, these counts show how many also have full recorded support in each other system. The remaining products may have limits, no supported route, or unconfirmed support; these counts do not establish what extra equipment would solve the gap.
- Apple Home: 12 of 15 · 3 without full recorded support
- Google Home: 10 of 15 · 5 without full recorded support
- Amazon Alexa: 11 of 15 · 4 without full recorded support
- Home Assistant: 12 of 15 · 3 without full recorded support
