Sensors & Detectors that work with SmartThings: the 15 that do, and what each one can't do

15 of the 17 sensors & detectors in our library work with SmartThings: 9 for everything they list, and 6 with an exception named on each. Every one of them is listed here with the catch that applies on SmartThings specifically — the setup it needs, what stays stuck in the vendor's own app, and where SmartThings's automations can't reach a capability the device has.

Sorted by how much we’ve verified — a statement about our research, not a ranking of the products.✓ works · ◐ works, with an exception ·✗ doesn’t work (verified) · ? not checked yet

Work for everything they list

  1. IKEA MYGGBETT Door/Window Sensor

IKEA's own Matter statement names Samsung SmartThings, and Samsung's own partner directory lists this sensor by its model number, so both companies say it works. It joins over Matter, and the Samsung side needs a hub that can act as a Thread border router.

  2. IKEA MYGGSPRAY Wireless Motion Sensor

IKEA's own Matter statement names Samsung SmartThings, and Samsung's own partner directory lists this sensor by its model number, so both companies say it works. It joins over Matter, and the Samsung side needs a hub that can act as a Thread border router.

  3. IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE Temperature/Humidity Sensor

IKEA names SmartThings, and Samsung's partner directory lists this sensor by model number. Connected readings use Matter. You need a controller to add it to SmartThings and a Thread border router to connect the sensor to your home network.

  4. Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2

Needs a SmartThings hub that provides Thread border routing (e.g., Station, Hub v3/2018+, Aeotec).

  5. SwitchBot Meter Pro

SmartThings is on the official third-party services list; requires a SwitchBot hub (cloud-to-cloud link).

  6. Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2

Via Matter over Thread — requires a SmartThings hub with Thread border router capability (Station, Hub v3, Aeotec).

  7. Eve Door & Window (3rd generation, Matter)

Officially badged 'Works with Samsung SmartThings' via SmartThings Matter controller; plain contact-sensor function only.

  8. Eve Motion (3rd generation, Matter)

Officially badged 'Works with Samsung SmartThings' via SmartThings Matter controller; plain Matter sensor functions only.

  9. THIRDREALITY Smart Presence Sensor R2

Named directly by the vendor among its supported platforms, alongside Aeotec — which matters because Aeotec builds the SmartThings hub hardware. Requires a hub with a Zigbee radio; presence and absence are exposed as automation triggers.

Work, with an exception

  1. SwitchBot Contact Sensor

    Partial

Requires a SwitchBot hub. Open/close works and can trigger SmartThings routines, and the battery level shows up; SwitchBot states the light-level and motion features are not available in the SmartThings app. Same shape as the Alexa and Google answers on this record.

  2. SONOFF Zigbee Human Presence Sensor (SNZB-06P)

    Works; presence detected unconfirmed

SONOFF says connecting it to a SmartThings hub needs a driver installed first, or a cloud-to-cloud link if you have a SONOFF gateway. It does not say what SmartThings can do with it once it is connected.

  3. SwitchBot Presence Sensor

Works per the maker; details unconfirmed

SwitchBot lists SmartThings among this sensor's third-party platforms. It does not say how the sensor connects to SmartThings or which readings SmartThings shows, so presence and light level are unconfirmed there.

  4. Meross Matter Smart Presence Sensor (MS600)

    Partial

SmartThings' own partner page for Meross lists this sensor by its model number, MS600, under motion sensors. Neither SmartThings nor Meross says how it connects or what it does there, and Meross's own page does not name SmartThings, so treat what you get in SmartThings as unconfirmed until one of them says.

  5. Philips Hue Motion Sensor (indoor)

Works per the maker; details unconfirmed

Signify lists Samsung SmartThings among the systems this sensor works with, but does not say how it connects or which readings come through.

  6. SONOFF SenseGuard Presence Core 24GHz Zigbee Presence Sensor (SNZB-06P24)

    Works; presence detected unconfirmed

SONOFF says you currently need a script to add it to SmartThings, and points to its help center. It does not say what SmartThings can do with it once added.

If your home isn’t only SmartThings

Of the 9 in the first group, these counts show how many also have full recorded support in each other system. The remaining products may have limits, no supported route, or unconfirmed support; these counts do not establish what extra equipment would solve the gap.
