Smart Locks that work with Apple Home: the 14 that do, and what each one can't do
14 of the 15 smart locks in our library work with Apple Home: 13 for everything they list, and 1 with an exception named on each. Every one of them is listed here with the catch that applies on Apple Home specifically — the setup it needs, what stays stuck in the vendor's own app, and where Apple Home's automations can't reach a capability the device has.

Work for everything they list
Aqara Smart Lock U200
Joins Apple Home through Matter over Thread rather than Apple's older HomeKit route, so you need a home hub with a Thread radio: HomePod, HomePod mini or a Thread-capable Apple TV 4K. Apple Home Key works from a supported iPhone or Apple Watch. Aqara's manual warns that some Matter platforms cannot add door lock passcodes and suggests adding the lock in the Aqara Home app, and fingerprint and tap-to-unlock management stay in the Aqara app.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Lock state and Lock/unlock.
August WiFi Smart Lock (4th gen)
HomeKit is genuinely native on the 4th gen (WiFi/Bluetooth in the lock, no bridge). Remote Siri/Home-app control away from home needs an Apple home hub (HomePod or Apple TV). No Matter support — August's own compatibility pages list no Matter or Thread anywhere (re-checked 2026-08-07, still absent).
ULTRALOQ Bolt Fingerprint (Matter over Thread)
Reached through Matter rather than a legacy HomeKit pairing on this variant, so it needs a Thread-capable Apple home hub (HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K with Thread). ⚠ Do not read Apple Home Key into this: ULTRALOQ sells Home Key on its Bolt NFC line, and nothing on the Bolt Fingerprint page claims it for this model.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Lock state and Lock/unlock.
Aqara Smart Lock U400
⚠ THE DEEPEST APPLE STORY IN THIS CATALOGUE'S LOCK SHELF, AND THE ONE WITH THE MOST PREREQUISITES — read both halves. Aqara names specific minimums for it (iOS 18.5 on an iPhone 11 or later, watchOS 11.5 on an Apple Watch Series 6 or later), and the headline feature is UWB hands-free unlocking: the door opens as you approach with your phone or watch, no tapping. But that feature is not in the box. Aqara states it needs 'a Thread-enabled Apple Home hub', and tap-to-unlock needs 'an Apple Thread-enabled Matter controller' — a HomePod, the 2021 Apple TV 4K or the Wi-Fi + Ethernet 2022 model, bought separately; the Wi-Fi-only Apple TV 4K has no Thread radio. Without one you have a capable keypad-and-fingerprint lock and none of the hands-free behaviour it is sold on.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Lock/unlock.
SwitchBot Lock Ultra Vision Pro Combo
Apple Home locks and unlocks it through Matter, by way of the Matter-capable Hub Mini that ships in this combo, so the path works out of the box. The base Hub Mini does not qualify, which matters if you shop the cheaper configurations. SwitchBot says its Lock products do not support Apple Home Key, and face, palm and fingerprint stay in the SwitchBot app.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Contact state, Lock state and Lock/unlock.
Kwikset Halo Select Plus Touchscreen Smart Lock
The reason to buy the Plus over the plain Select: 'With NFC technology and Apple home keys, simply tap to unlock Halo Select Plus using your iPhone or Apple Watch for easy and secure access to your home.' Home Key is provisioned through Apple Home, and Kwikset names Apple Home in its works-with statement. The lock joins Apple Home over Matter on Thread, and Kwikset lists the Apple home hubs that qualify: the HomePod mini, the HomePod (2nd Generation), the Apple TV 4K (2nd Generation) and the Apple TV 4K (3rd Generation, 128GB Wi-Fi + Ethernet), noting that the 64GB Wi-Fi-only Apple TV 4K does not have Thread.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Lock state and Lock/unlock.
Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus
Apple Home Key via NFC tap; HomeKit over Wi-Fi/Bluetooth — not Thread or Matter
Schlage Encode Plus
Native HomeKit over Thread with Apple Home Key. Remote control, automations, and sharing Tap to Unlock require a HomePod or Apple TV set up as an Apple home hub (a HomePod, the 2021 Apple TV 4K or the Wi-Fi + Ethernet 2022 model also provides the Thread border router; the Wi-Fi-only Apple TV 4K does not). Not a Matter device — Schlage's KB states the Encode Plus is not Matter-enabled.
Level Lock Pro
Apple Home Key needs iPhone XS+ on iOS 17.1+ or Apple Watch Series 4+ on watchOS 10.1+; remote access and automations need an Apple Home hub (HomePod mini, HomePod 2nd gen, the 2021 Apple TV 4K or the Wi-Fi + Ethernet 2022 model). The lock is also Matter-certified, so a Matter path into Apple Home exists alongside the Home Key pairing.
Schlage Sense Pro
The strongest ecosystem: Apple Home Key + UWB hands-free unlock are shipping and Apple-exclusive today — needs iPhone 11+/Apple Watch Series 6+ AND a Thread-enabled home hub (Apple TV 4K 2nd/3rd gen Wi-Fi+Ethernet, HomePod 2nd gen, HomePod mini). Apple Home control rides Matter, not a legacy HomeKit pairing; hands-free is set up in Apple Home but the three UWB entrance modes are configured in the Schlage Home app.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Lock state and Lock/unlock.
SwitchBot Lock Pro
Through Matter, by way of a SwitchBot Hub 2 sold separately. SwitchBot says this enables iPhone and Siri control. Without the hub there is no Apple Home route.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Lock state and Lock/unlock.
ULTRALOQ Bolt Fingerprint (Apple Home + Wi-Fi)
This is the version ULTRALOQ names Apple Home for: the option is titled 'Apple Home + WiFi + Bluetooth', and ULTRALOQ's specification table calls it the 'Homekit version', so the link is Apple's own HomeKit and not Matter, which belongs to the other version. ULTRALOQ's FAQ says that for Apple devices 'you will need to set up an iPad, HomePod, or Apple TV as your remote control hub', and asks you to keep the lock and that hub 'within the range of Bluetooth connectivity, ideally within 10 meters (33 feet)'. That sits beside the specification table's 'no hub required' line. Both are true of different things: the lock needs no bridge for Wi-Fi and ULTRALOQ's own app, while Apple Home reaches it over Bluetooth through a home hub. No certificate covers this version, so the Apple Home claim is ULTRALOQ's own.
Lockly Visage Zeno Series Facial Recognition Deadbolt
Lockly sells this lock as an Apple Home product. Its own page lists 'Works with Apple Home' among the certifications, says you can 'Ask Siri to unlock or set up automations directly within the Apple Home app', and offers Apple Home Key, so an iPhone or Apple Watch tapped on the lock opens it. Two limits Lockly prints itself: remote control and Home Key sharing through Apple Home need an Apple home hub, meaning a HomePod or Apple TV, and access codes made in the Apple Home app are capped at 16, against 49 in Lockly's own app. This is Apple's own accessory route rather than Matter: the lock is not on Lockly's list of Matter-compatible devices.
Work, with an exception
eufy FamiLock S3 Max
Works, except camera stream
Apple Home locks and unlocks it through Matter over Wi-Fi: eufy names Apple Home for this lock, and Apple lists locks among the Matter accessories its Home app supports. The camera stream does not come through Matter, so live video and visitor calls stay in the eufy app.
If your home isn’t only Apple Home
Of the 13 in the first group, these counts show how many also have full recorded support in each other system. The remaining products may have limits, no supported route, or unconfirmed support; these counts do not establish what extra equipment would solve the gap.
