Plugs & Outlets that work with Google Home: the 16 that do, and what each one can't do
16 of the 20 plugs & outlets in our library work with Google Home: 8 for everything they list, and 8 with an exception named on each. Every one of them is listed here with the catch that applies on Google Home specifically — the setup it needs, what stays stuck in the vendor's own app, and where Google Home's automations can't reach a capability the device has.

Work for everything they list
TP-Link Tapo P125M Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug (Matter)
TP-Link's setup guide asks you to check that your Google hub is compatible, listing the Nest Hub, Nest Wifi Pro and Google TV Streamer 4K among others, and says that without one you can control the plug only on your home network. The native Tapo path is also officially supported.
Automations Google Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
Tapo Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug, Matter (P400M)
Same Matter mechanism, with a 'works with Google Home' badge on TP-Link's own datasheet and Google Assistant named in the voice-control section. Needs a Matter-capable Google hub (Nest Hub / Nest Wifi Pro / Google TV Streamer class device) — the phone app alone will not commission it.
Automations Google Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
GE Cync Outdoor Smart Plug, Matter (CPLGOD2BLMS)
Named by GE in the same sentence as Alexa, through the same Matter route. Google's Matter list marks plug-in units as available by Google Assistant, in the Google Home app and on a Smart Display, so on and off works all three ways. It needs a Matter-capable Google device, such as a Nest hub or Google TV Streamer, rather than the phone app alone, which GE signals by marking the platform sold separately.
Automations Google Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Tamper-Resistant Outlet, 2nd Gen (D215R)
Documented by Leviton with its own section — 'Use your voice to control connected lighting and loads with Google Assistant or from the Google Home app' — and a 'works with Hey Google' badge. Same dependency as Alexa: the link runs through the My Leviton cloud, so an internet or service outage takes it with it.
Meross Smart Wi-Fi Surge Protector Power Strip (MSS425FHK)
Named in the same Meross sentence as Alexa and Apple, reached the same way, with the same internet dependency. Per-outlet control; the USB bank is one thing rather than four.
Legrand radiant Smart 15A Receptacle with Wi-Fi, Matter-Enabled, White (WWMRR15WH)
Named in the same compatibility sentence and the same Works With row, reached the same way. Needs a Matter-capable Google hub rather than only the Google Home app on a phone. Same single-controlled-outlet limit.
Automations Google Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
Meross Smart Outdoor Plug (MSS620BHK)
Cloud-to-cloud account linking, both sockets individually controllable. Same internet dependency as the Alexa cell.
Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug (EP40)
Named by TP-Link on this model's own page alongside Alexa, and set up the same way by linking the two accounts. Same shape as Alexa: full control because on and off is all there is, and it depends on the internet because the link is made between TP-Link's service and Google's.
Work, with an exception
IKEA GRILLPLATS Smart Plug
Works; energy monitoring unconfirmed
Google Home turns the plug on and off through Matter, and IKEA names Google among the systems it works with. Google's Matter table marks energy readings as available in the Google Home app only and does not say a plug's readings appear, and IKEA does not say, so energy monitoring is unconfirmed. You need a Thread border router on the Google side.
THIRDREALITY Smart Plug Gen2 (Power Metering)
Partial
There is no direct Google route — this is a Zigbee device with no radio Google speaks. The vendor names two indirect paths: a hub that itself works with Google ('other ZigBee hubs that can work with Alexa or Google Home'), or its own bridge — 'Enabled by Smart Bridge MZ1 (Sold Separately), integrates with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa (Smart Speaker required) and SmartThings'. Either way the reach depends on the intermediary, and the energy-monitoring limitation above still applies unless that intermediary is one of the four hubs named for it.
Tapo Smart Wi-Fi In-Wall Outlet, Matter, Energy Monitoring (P210M)
Works; energy monitoring unconfirmed
On/off works through Matter, with Google Assistant and Google Home named in TP-Link's own materials, and Google's Matter list marks plug-in units as available by Google Assistant, in the Google Home app and on a Smart Display. You need a Matter-capable Google hub, not just the Google Home app on a phone. Energy readings are unconfirmed on Google: Google's table of Matter device types marks energy measurement as available in the Google Home app only, not by voice or on a display, and does not say a plug's readings appear there, and TP-Link's firmware note of 28 August 2026 names SmartThings and Home Assistant, not Google Home, as the apps where it has verified energy readings over Matter. Count on the energy data in the Tapo app.
Eve Energy (4th generation, Matter)
Works, except energy monitoring
On and off works via Matter: Google's Matter list marks plug-in units as available by Google Assistant, in the Google Home app and on a Smart Display. Energy monitoring is missing on Google by Eve's own word: Eve says its energy features are currently available on Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant only. Google's list puts energy measurement under a separate meter type, marked available in the Google Home app only and not by voice or on a display, and that page was last updated in December 2024. Eve's Android app covers devices connected through Google Home, which is the route to schedules on Android.
Enbrighten In-Wall Z-Wave Tamper-Resistant Smart Outlet (58449)
Partial
Identical standing to the Alexa cell, from the identical sentence: Google Assistant is named, and named in the same breath as the hub requirement. Jasco's Z-Wave questions page says Google Assistant connects to its Z-Wave devices through a SmartThings hub. Jasco publishes no Google setup documentation, so the capability depth belongs to the hub.
Govee Smart Plug Outlet Extender with Night Light (H5089)
Works; color unconfirmed
Govee says the outlet extender supports voice control of its two sockets and its night light from Google, so switching them on and off works. Govee does not say whether Google Home can change the night light's color, so color is unconfirmed, and it does not say how the extender connects to Google Home.
Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip, 6 Outlets (HS300)
Works; energy monitoring unconfirmed
The same standing as Alexa: TP-Link names Google Assistant for this strip, and switching the outlets by voice works, through the Kasa service over TP-Link's cloud with no local option and no Matter. Energy monitoring is unconfirmed on Google: TP-Link shows the readings in the Kasa app and does not say whether Google Home can show them.
Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Slim with Energy Monitoring (EP25)
Works; energy monitoring unconfirmed
TP-Link says you can turn this plug on and off with your voice through Google Assistant. Google lists this plug under its TP-Link Kasa connection; TP-Link does not say whether Google Home shows the plug's energy use, so energy monitoring is unconfirmed there. TP-Link names Google Assistant rather than the Google Home app.
If your home isn’t only Google Home
Of the 8 in the first group, these counts show how many also have full recorded support in each other system. The remaining products may have limits, no supported route, or unconfirmed support; these counts do not establish what extra equipment would solve the gap.
- Apple Home: 7 of 8 · 1 without full recorded support
- Amazon Alexa: 8 of 8
- SmartThings: 5 of 8 · 3 without full recorded support
- Home Assistant: 4 of 8 · 4 without full recorded support
