Indoor Air & Comfort that work with Amazon Alexa: the 15 that do, and what each one can't do
15 of the 19 indoor air & comfort in our library work with Amazon Alexa: 8 for everything they list, and 7 with an exception named on each. Every one of them is listed here with the catch that applies on Amazon Alexa specifically — the setup it needs, what stays stuck in the vendor's own app, and where Amazon Alexa's automations can't reach a capability the device has.

Work for everything they list
IKEA ALPSTUGA Air Quality Sensor
Amazon is named in IKEA's own compatibility sentence and the Matter 1.3 Air Quality Sensor certification is what makes it work. The border-router requirement applies equally here — a newer Echo can serve as one, an older one cannot. Recorded full on a named first-party claim plus certification, with the same honest limit as every cell on this record: IKEA states which ecosystems it works with and never states what the readings look like once they arrive, so whether your assistant will report a CO2 figure or merely expose it to routines is not published.
Automations Amazon Alexa documents controlling this over Matter and never says the value reaches its automations, so we do not claim it does.
SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier
Alexa adds it over Matter: SwitchBot names Alexa in its Matter sentence and certifies this humidifier for Matter as a fan, and Amazon lists fans among the Matter devices Alexa supports, so On/off and Fan mode work. The humidity target does not travel over Matter and stays in SwitchBot's app. SwitchBot's footnote says Matter support needs a SwitchBot Hub.
Automations Amazon Alexa documents controlling this over Matter and never says the value reaches its automations, so we do not claim it does.
Dyson Purifier Cool PC2 De-NOx
Named first-party in Dyson's own Matter section — 'Connects with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, and other Matter-compatible platforms' — and backed by the same Matter 1.4 Air Purifier certification over Wi-Fi. Recorded full on that basis, with one honest limit: Dyson names the platform but never states what a voice command can actually do. There is no capability list, no command inventory, no statement of whether you can set a specific fan speed or only turn the machine on and off. Dyson's own app footnote deflects the question rather than answering it — 'Refer to the MyDyson app for compatible voice services' — which points a prospective buyer at an app they can only see after purchase. What the Matter Air Purifier device type supports is the reliable floor here: on/off and fan control, with air-quality readings exposed by the machine's sensors.
Automations Amazon Alexa documents controlling this over Matter and never says the value reaches its automations, so we do not claim it does.
Hunter Aerodyne Indoor Smart Fan with LED Light, 52 inch (51314)
A real, documented integration rather than a logo. Hunter publishes the steps — register the fan in the HunterSMART app, then under Settings choose 'Connect with Alexa' and follow Amazon's account-linking flow — and, unusually for this catalogue, publishes what it does: 'Alexa, set the office fan to high' and 'Alexa, turn on the office light' are Hunter's own examples, so speed and light both reach the fan by voice. ⚠ ONE GOTCHA HUNTER DOCUMENTS AND MOST VENDORS WOULD NOT, worth knowing before you rename anything: 'If you add a new HunterSMART fan, change your existing HunterSMART fan's name through our app, or update your HunterSMART password, you will need to reset the skill. Do this by disabling the skill in Alexa and then enable it again.' Renaming a fan silently breaking its voice control is exactly the kind of thing that gets blamed on the fan. Transport is cloud: this route runs through Hunter's servers and Amazon's, unlike the Apple one.
Hunter Aerodyne Indoor Smart Fan ENERGY STAR with LED Light, 60 inch (52832)
A documented integration rather than a badge. Hunter publishes the steps — register the fan in the HunterSMART app, then under 'Settings' choose 'Connect with Alexa' and follow Amazon's account-linking flow — and, unusually for this catalogue, publishes what it does once linked: 'Alexa, set the office fan to high' and 'Alexa, turn on the office light' are Hunter's own examples, so speed and light both reach the fan by voice. ⚠ ONE FAILURE MODE HUNTER DOCUMENTS AND MOST VENDORS WOULD NOT: 'If you add a new HunterSMART fan, change your existing HunterSMART fan's name through our app, or update your HunterSMART password, you will need to reset the skill. Do this by disabling the skill in Alexa and then enable it again.' Hunter's FAQ widens that warning past Alexa — a name change 'may cause issues with your other smart home accessories (Google, HomeKit, Alexa)', with the remedy being to redo setup in each app. Renaming a fan quietly breaking its voice control is the kind of thing that gets blamed on the hardware. Transport is cloud: this route runs through Hunter's servers and Amazon's, unlike the Apple one.
Hunter Techne Indoor Smart Fan with 4 Lights, 52 inch (52310/52311/52312)
Documented end to end: register the fan in the HunterSMART app, then under Settings choose 'Connect with Alexa' and complete Amazon's account-linking flow. Hunter publishes example commands, which is rarer than it should be — 'Alexa, set the office fan to high' and 'Alexa, turn on the office light' — establishing that both speed and the four-bulb light respond to voice rather than just on and off. ⚠ ONE DOCUMENTED FAILURE MODE THAT WILL LOOK LIKE A BROKEN FAN: 'If you add a new HunterSMART fan, change your existing HunterSMART fan's name through our app, or update your HunterSMART password, you will need to reset the skill. Do this by disabling the skill in Alexa and then enable it again.' Renaming a fan is the sort of thing people do casually months after install. This route is cloud on both sides, unlike Apple's.
Big Ass Fans Haiku Ceiling Fan
Works in Alexa over Matter: this model carries a Matter certificate, and Alexa controls On/off and Fan mode on Matter fans. Big Ass Fans also lists Amazon Alexa for voice control without saying how it connects.
Automations Amazon Alexa's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use Motion detected.
Levoit OasisMist 450S Smart Humidifier
Works through VeSync's link to Alexa. Levoit's manual for this model says you can use the VeSync app to connect the humidifier to Amazon Alexa, following the steps in the app to link VeSync to your voice assistant, and lists Alexa under voice commands. Levoit names no specific commands, so whether you can set the mist level or a target humidity by voice is not stated. The product page itself only says 'third-party voice assistants through VeSync'. The link runs through VeSync's servers and needs your own VeSync account: the manual says third-party services do not work with a guest account.
Work, with an exception
Airthings View Plus
Works, by a limited route
Airthings connects the View Plus to Alexa through the Airthings skill: you turn it on in the Alexa app and sign in with your Airthings account. You use it by asking the skill by name to read out a level, such as radon, CO2, VOCs or particulates in a room, and the monitor can also be added to the Alexa app as a thermometer. Airthings' help page says it offers no Alexa automation, so the readings can't start Alexa routines, although its product page says they can. Humidity isn't among the readings Airthings names for Alexa. Readings stay in the Airthings app either way.
Levoit EverestAir-P Smart Air Purifier
Works; on/off and fan mode unconfirmed
Levoit says you connect this purifier to Amazon Alexa through the VeSync app, so it reaches Alexa through your VeSync account. Levoit doesn't say what Alexa can do with it, so turning it on and off and changing the fan mode with Alexa are unconfirmed, and whether Alexa shows its air-quality readings isn't stated.
Big Ass Fans i6 Ceiling Fan
Works, except fan direction
Works in Alexa over Matter, except Fan direction: this model carries a Matter certificate, and Alexa controls On/off and Fan mode on Matter fans. Amazon's list of what Alexa supports over Matter leaves out fan direction, so Fan direction is missing in Alexa. Big Ass Fans also lists Amazon Alexa for voice control without saying how it connects.
Dreo Smart Tower Fan Pilot Max S 714S
Works per the maker; details unconfirmed
Dreo lists Amazon Alexa beside its own app for this fan. It does not say how the fan connects to Alexa or what Alexa can do with it, so on/off and fan mode are unconfirmed there.
Big Ass Fans Haiku Outdoor Ceiling Fan
Works per the maker; details unconfirmed
Big Ass Fans lists Amazon Alexa among the platforms this fan works with. It does not say how the fan links to Alexa or what Alexa can do with it, so on/off and fan mode are unconfirmed there. Big Ass Fans ties Matter to Apple Home only.
Dreo Smart Humidifier 524S
Works per the maker; details unconfirmed
Dreo lists Amazon Alexa beside its own app for this humidifier. It does not say how the humidifier connects to Alexa or what Alexa can do with it, so even on/off is unconfirmed there. Dreo describes its Auto Mode, which holds humidity within ±5%, as a feature of the machine and the app.
Awair Element
Works per the maker; details unconfirmed
Awair lists Amazon Alexa among the three platforms it supports, with IFTTT and Google Assistant. It does not say how the Element connects to Amazon Alexa or which of its readings Amazon Alexa can use, so the air quality, temperature and humidity readings are unconfirmed there.
If your home isn’t only Amazon Alexa
Of the 8 in the first group, these counts show how many also have full recorded support in each other system. The remaining products may have limits, no supported route, or unconfirmed support; these counts do not establish what extra equipment would solve the gap.
- Apple Home: 3 of 8 · 5 without full recorded support
- Google Home: 8 of 8
- SmartThings: 3 of 8 · 5 without full recorded support
