Plugs & Outlets that work with Apple Home: the 13 that do, and what each one can't do
13 of the 20 plugs & outlets in our library work with Apple Home: 7 for everything they list, and 6 with an exception named on each. Every one of them is listed here with the catch that applies on Apple Home specifically — the setup it needs, what stays stuck in the vendor's own app, and where Apple Home's automations can't reach a capability the device has.

Work for everything they list
TP-Link Tapo P125M Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug (Matter)
Apple Home works only via Matter. On iOS 18 or later an iPhone can add and locally control the plug with no home hub; a HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV is still required for remote access, automations, and sharing (Apple support 102135; TP-Link FAQ 3564).
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
Tapo Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug, Matter (P400M)
Apple Home is reached through Matter, and Siri is named by TP-Link directly ('Use simple voice commands with Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant'). No native-HomeKit path is documented for this model and none is needed. Platform requirement rather than a device limit: on Apple Home, an iPhone on iOS 18 or later can add and control it over Matter without a home hub, and a HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV is still needed to control it away from home, run automations and share control.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
GE Cync Outdoor Smart Plug, Matter (CPLGOD2BLMS)
Apple Home is reached through Matter, and GE names it on its own page. This is the difference between the two outdoor Cync plugs: the Matter part number gets into the Home app, the other one does not, and only the barcode or the part number tells them apart. On Apple Home, an iPhone on iOS 18 or later can add and control it over Matter without a home hub; a HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV is still needed to control it away from home, run automations and share control. GE's own wording calls the platform devices sold separately.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi Tamper-Resistant Outlet, 2nd Gen (D215R)
Native HomeKit, which on this generation is a genuine advantage over Leviton's newer Matter-only hardware: the product-data sheet carries a 'Works with Apple HomeKit' badge and says to 'Add to an Apple HomeKit network and control with the native Apple Home app on your iOS device, providing compatibility with Siri for voice control'. No Matter needed and no HomePod needed for basic local control — though HomeKit automations and away-from-home access do need a HomePod or Apple TV, which is Apple's rule rather than Leviton's. The hazard to know about before you accept a firmware update: Leviton states that updating a 2nd Gen device to Matter firmware 'will remove your Decora Smart Wi-Fi device's current connection to Apple HomeKit', after which it must be re-added using a Matter pairing code. D215R is not currently on Leviton's Matter-eligible list, so that update is not offered for it today.
Meross Smart Wi-Fi Surge Protector Power Strip (MSS425FHK)
Native HomeKit rather than a cloud bridge, and Meross states the version floor itself: 'Compatible With Apple HomeKit(iOS 13 or above), Siri'. Each of the four AC outlets is individually controlled, so they appear as separate accessories; the four USB ports are group-controlled and are not four separate things in the Home app. Remote access needs an Apple home hub — Meross names 'a HomePod, an Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD or an iPad' — which is Apple's requirement, not a Meross limitation. ⚠ Buy the HK model: Meross sells non-HomeKit variants of this strip under near-identical titles.
Legrand radiant Smart 15A Receptacle with Wi-Fi, Matter-Enabled, White (WWMRR15WH)
Legrand names Apple HomeKit in its compatibility sentence and Apple Home in its Works With row, and the route is Matter rather than a legacy HomeKit implementation — so on Apple Home an iPhone on iOS 18 or later can add and control it over Matter without a home hub, and a HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV is still needed to control it away from home, run automations and share control. Setup is Legrand's stated 'Simply scan the Matter QR code on the device with your smartphone's camera or smart home application'. One in-wall detail worth acting on before the wallplate goes back: the Matter code is on the device, so photograph it during installation rather than after.
Automations Apple Home's Matter page lists this kind of device; its automations can use On/off.
Meross Smart Outdoor Plug (MSS620BHK)
Native HomeKit — a real accessory in the Home app with both sockets exposed individually, not a cloud bridge, and Meross states the product is listed on Apple's own HomeKit site. Remote access needs an Apple home hub, which is Apple's requirement. ⚠ BUY THE RIGHT BOX: Meross sells non-HomeKit variants of its plugs under near-identical names, and only the HK-suffixed SKUs carry HomeKit — this record covers MSS620BHK specifically.
Work, with an exception
IKEA GRILLPLATS Smart Plug
Works, except energy monitoring
Apple Home turns the plug on and off through Matter, and IKEA names Apple among the systems it works with. Apple Home has no energy type among the Matter accessories it supports, so energy monitoring stays in the IKEA Home smart app. You need a Thread border router on the Apple side.
THIRDREALITY Smart Plug Gen2 (Power Metering)
Partial
Apple Home is reachable but only through a separately-sold box: 'Enabled by Smart Bridge MZ1 (Sold Separately), integrates with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa (Smart Speaker required) and SmartThings.' The MZ1 is $29.99 on the vendor's own storefront — more than twice the price of the plug — which is the number that decides whether this is a cheap Apple Home plug or an expensive one. ⚠ Worth knowing before generalising: the vendor names NO Apple route for its Smart Presence Sensor R2, so this bridge path is stated per product rather than brand-wide.
Tapo Smart Wi-Fi In-Wall Outlet, Matter, Energy Monitoring (P210M)
Partial
Apple Home switches each outlet on and off through Matter and shows no energy readings: Apple's own list of the Matter accessories the Home app supports names outlets and has no energy or power reading on it. Energy monitoring is in this outlet's name, so Apple Home does only part of what it is sold for, and the energy figures stay in the Tapo app. TP-Link names Apple Home in the quick start guide's Matter section, and no native-HomeKit path is documented or needed. On Apple Home, an iPhone on iOS 18 or later can add and control it over Matter without a home hub; a HomePod, HomePod mini or Apple TV is still needed to control it away from home, run automations and share control. One installation detail specific to an in-wall device that is easy to overlook until you have already screwed the wallplate on: the Matter QR code is on the label in the package, and the numeric code is on the device itself, reachable only 'by detaching the wallplate and unscrewing its bracket'. Photograph the code before installation.
Eve Energy (4th generation, Matter)
Works, except energy monitoring
Energy monitoring — the reason to choose this plug over a cheaper one — does not appear in the Apple Home app. Eve names only Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant as the platforms with native energy management. You still get the data, but only inside Eve's own iOS app, which also carries the built-in schedules, the status-LED setting and the child lock. On/off, scenes, automations and remote access all work normally through Apple Home over Matter.
Eve Energy Strip (connected triple outlet)
Works, except energy monitoring
Native HomeKit, and the only ecosystem Eve supports on this model. Each of the three outlets shows up as its own accessory in the Home app and can be switched by Siri or the Home app locally. Energy readings are the exception: Eve's own table shows energy monitoring in the Eve app and not in the Home app or through Siri, so the consumption history many people buy it for stays in Eve's iOS app. Automations and control from outside the house need a HomePod or Apple TV (4th generation or later) as a home hub.
Belkin Wemo Smart Plug (Wemo Mini WSP080 and WiFi plug line)
Partial
HomeKit (not Matter), local only, and only for HomeKit-capable models (WSP080, WSP090, F7C063; WSP100 Thread) that were already configured before 2026-01-31. Belkin states new HomeKit setup is no longer possible after that date.
