Ring Alarm Pro Base Station

⚠ Similar names, different products: This page covers the Ring Alarm Pro Base Station, which Ring sells with a built-in eero Wi-Fi 6 router. Ring lists the Alarm Base Station, without the router, as a separate product, and the Ring Bridge is a separate Ring hub.

Before you buy

What do you need to make it work?

No hub for the device alone

Choose a platform above for its connection. A hub can be optional for the device itself and required for a platform or automation.

No — this device is the hub. Ring calls the Alarm Pro Base Station 'the brains behind your smart security' and says it 'Connects to all Ring Alarm components.'[1]

One device can provide more than one role. These are setup requirements, not a shopping list of separate purchases.

What could you do with this?

Put its functions to use.

Research, not hands-on testing

Start with a documented control or event. The selected connection shows what is confirmed for that platform.

We have not established a control or event to illustrate for this product. Check the connection and equipment information above.

A documented control or event is one part of a setup. It does not by itself establish a complete automation.

The functions, side by side

What can you use, and where?

A platform connection does not confirm every function. Controls and reported events are shown separately from what an automation can use.

Individual function comparisons are not available. The control and event summaries above distinguish an unanswered question from a documented absence.

Listed device functions are established from vendor documentation. An ability missing here is unestablished, not necessarily absent.

Amazon AlexaWorks per the maker; details unconfirmedWorks per the maker; details unconfirmed — see the catch[1]Ring says you can arm your Alarm hands-free by asking Alexa, and that Ring Alarm integrates with Alexa-enabled Echo devices, but both statements say a Ring subscription is required, sold separately. The page does not list which alarm features Alexa gets beyond arming.
Google HomeInconclusiveWe researched this and the evidence doesn't settle it — the catch explains why[1]Ring's Alarm Pro page names no Google Home or Google Assistant link, and no Google document was read for this device, so the answer is not established either way.
Apple HomeInconclusiveWe researched this and the evidence doesn't settle it — the catch explains why[1]Ring's Alarm Pro page names no Apple Home link, and no Apple document was read for this device, so the answer is not established either way.
SmartThingsInconclusiveWe researched this and the evidence doesn't settle it — the catch explains why[1]Ring's Alarm Pro page names no SmartThings link, and no SmartThings document was read for this device, so the answer is not established either way.
Home AssistantInconclusiveWe researched this and the evidence doesn't settle it — the catch explains why[4]Home Assistant's own Ring integration lists the Ring devices it supports as doorbells, stick-up cams, chimes and intercoms. No alarm base station is on that list, but the list does not say alarm hardware cannot be reached another way, so the answer is left open rather than turned into a no.

? Inconclusive means we researched that ecosystem and the evidence doesn’t settle it — the catch says why, and the sources are listed below. It is a statement about the available evidence, never a verdict on the product. A Setup Check researches your exact setup where the official sources don’t answer.

Plans and ongoing costs[1]

◐ Works without a subscription: Yes, but some features need a plan.

Vendor account required: Not established — we have not sourced this yet.

Ring says to 'Subscribe to Ring Protect, sold separately, to control your entire security system from the Ring app.' Alarm Cellular Backup, 24/7 Backup Internet, professional monitoring and Alexa arming are each tied to a compatible Ring subscription on the same page. The page does not list what works with no plan at all.

Maintenance and offline use

The catch

It is a router as well as an alarm base. Ring says it must connect directly to your modem and replace your existing network, so a household that wants to keep its current Wi-Fi router cannot just add it. Controlling the whole system from the Ring app, cellular backup and backup internet all need a Ring subscription sold separately.

Who it's for

A household building a Ring Alarm system that is ready to make Ring's eero-based router its main router, or one adding Ring Smart Lighting that needs a Sidewalk hub. Ring lists the Alarm Pro Base Station among the hubs its Solar Pathlight accepts, beside the lighter Ring Bridge.
