Pentair states the negative itself: "At this time, Pentair Pool and Pentair Pro are not integrated with other smart home devices, or connected via voice with at home assistants." The action and trigger above rest entirely on a Home Assistant community integration talking to IntelliCenter's local network interface — a route Alexa has no path into. The legacy custom skill this record already documents rode the retired intellicenter.com portal.
• Google Home: Nothing above is reachable from Google Home, on the same first-party sentence: "At this time, Pentair Pool and Pentair Pro are not integrated with other smart home devices, or connected via voice with at home assistants." (pentair.com/en-us/app-support/app-faqs.html, re-read 2026-08-22). Pentair publishes no Google Home path of any kind for the IntelliCenter.
• Apple Home: Nothing above is reachable from Apple Home. The only route anyone has built is the community homebridge-pentair-intellicenter plugin, which requires running a Homebridge server — so reaching on/off or a water temperature from Apple Home means running third-party software Pentair neither ships nor supports.

Same vendor sentence: "At this time, Pentair Pool and Pentair Pro are not integrated with other smart home devices, or connected via voice with at home assistants." (pentair.com/en-us/app-support/app-faqs.html, re-read 2026-08-22), and the only SmartThings routes ever built for Pentair controllers were community Groovy projects that died when SmartThings retired the Groovy platform.
• Home Assistant: The only platform that reaches anything — and by a route Pentair neither publishes nor supports: the community integration jlvaillant/intellicenter, which "Connect[s] to a Pentair Intellicenter thru the local (network) interface". Local rather than cloud, so unlike this shelf's cloud-relayed community integrations it does not die with a vendor backend. TWO OF ITS OWN CONDITIONS BOUND WHAT IS CLAIMED ABOVE, quoted because they are the reason two obvious terms are absent: the water-heater entity is created only "if applicable" and is described by its OFF / IDLE / ON status, while the desired temperature is exposed as "a sensor for the desired temperature" — a read — so no heater setpoint control is claimed; and the pump power, RPM and GPM sensors exist only "if the pump supports these features", so neither an energy reading nor a water-flow reading is claimed for the controller itself. First-party, re-verified 2026-08-10: 'Pentair Pool app service is included within the cost of the device with no separate annual fee' (Pentair app FAQ). Remote app control requires a Pentair cloud account.

Maintenance reality

• Works without the internet: Partly — some of it keeps working and some of it does not. See the detail below.^[6]
• Pro-installed load center (high-voltage wiring). Remote/app access rides Pentair's AWS cloud; the local touchscreen and the community local API keep working offline. App lineage has churned (intellicenter.com → IntelliCenter2 → Pentair Home → Pentair Pool) with forced account migrations
• Security updates: No security-update support date is on record for this model yet. We haven't yet checked whether Pentair publishes one, so this is a gap in our research — not a statement about the manufacturer.

The catch

The most expandable controller of the big three (40 aux + 32 feature circuits) with the weakest official smart-home story: no Google, no Apple, and an Alexa skill tied to a legacy account system with a documented outage history — Pentair's own FAQ admits its current apps have no voice integration. well-developed local Home Assistant support, but it's volunteer-maintained.

Who it's for

Owners of Pentair-equipped pools (IntelliFlo, IntelliChlor, multiple water features) wanting maximum circuit capacity — and, via the community local API, arguably the strongest Home Assistant pool controller despite the weak official voice support.
