Amazon AlexaPartialPartial support — see the catch[3][8]Seller's spec sheet, checked 2026-08-10This fact comes from a retailer or review specification listing rather than from the manufacturer. Last checked 2026-08-10.Connects as a Matter bridge: bridged IKEA Zigbee device types (lights, plugs, blinds, remotes, motion/open-close sensors, air-quality devices) appear in Alexa, but IKEA scenes stay in the IKEA app and water-leak sensors were not bridged over Matter as of the July-2025 controller update. The legacy Alexa cloud skill was removed for new setups around November 2025; existing links keep working but cannot be re-established. Checked again 2026-08-10: IKEA's product page still says you 'can connect to Amazon Alexa… through integrations in the IKEA Home smart app', which is the withdrawn route — the page contradicts the vendor's own statement, and this cell follows the statement.
Google HomePartialPartial support — see the catch[3][8]Seller's spec sheet, checked 2026-08-10This fact comes from a retailer or review specification listing rather than from the manufacturer. Last checked 2026-08-10.Same Matter-bridge basis and device-type limits as Alexa; the legacy Google Home cloud link was removed for new setups around November 2025 — existing links keep working but cannot be re-established. Checked again 2026-08-10: IKEA's product page still advertises connecting to Google Home 'through integrations in the IKEA Home smart app', the withdrawn route; this cell follows the vendor's dated statement over its sales copy.
Apple HomePartialPartial support — see the catch[3][8]Seller's spec sheet, checked 2026-08-10This fact comes from a retailer or review specification listing rather than from the manufacturer. Last checked 2026-08-10.New setups connect through the Matter bridge with the same device-type limits; DIRIGERA's original native HomeKit pairing is reported among the integrations retired in IKEA's Matter-only shift — the platform names come from the reporting, not from IKEA's quoted statement, which names none. Checked again 2026-08-10: IKEA's product page still advertises connecting to Apple Home 'through integrations in the IKEA Home smart app', the withdrawn route. When set up via iOS, the hub's Thread border router joins an existing Apple Thread network rather than creating a parallel one.
SmartThingsPartialPartial support — see the catch[3][7]No SmartThings-specific integration has ever been documented by IKEA; the path is the generic Matter bridge ('compatible with any Matter-enabled ecosystem' per IKEA's 2024 announcement), with the same bridged-device-type limits.
Home AssistantPartialPartial support — see the catch[5][9]No dedicated core integration exists for DIRIGERA (HA's TRADFRI integration covers only the old gateway and states this). The supported path is HA's official Matter integration consuming DIRIGERA as a Matter bridge (bridge support since hub firmware 2.615.8, September 2024), with HA's docs listing the bridged device types; a fuller-featured community integration exists outside official support. In Home Assistant you also need: Home Assistant's own Matter Server app, installed from inside Home Assistant (no extra hardware to buy) — Home Assistant’s rule for every Matter accessory. Protocols: MATTER · THREAD · ZIGBEE · WIFI · ETHERNET[2][12][16]

Needs before it works: No — this device is the hub, and it is the hub IKEA's own Matter and Thread range points at. It is a certified Matter controller and bridge with a Zigbee 3.0 radio and, since firmware 2.805.6, an active Thread border router.[14]

What it can do[15]

You can tell it to

None documented by the vendor

It reports

None documented by the vendor

Listed capabilities are what we could establish from vendor documentation. An ability missing here is unestablished — not necessarily absent.

Subscription reality[1][7]

✓ Works without a subscription: Yes.

Vendor account required: Not established — we have not sourced this yet.

No paid tier referenced on the IKEA US product page, DIRIGERA support pages, or the smart-product support policy; remote access (Control Anywhere) is described with no payment attached.

Maintenance reality[4][10]

The catch

The ecosystem columns describe its Matter bridge, and a bridge only carries some device types: IKEA scenes stay in the IKEA app, water-leak sensors did not bridge as of the July-2025 update, and the legacy cloud links to Alexa and Google are gone for new setups — a change IKEA's own product page had still not caught up with when we last checked it on 10 August 2026, where it continues to offer those app integrations to buyers. Its Matter-controller and Thread-border-router roles only arrived with the July-2025 firmware, and IKEA commits to just three years of software support for the hub itself versus five for its devices.

Who it's for

Homes invested in IKEA's cheap Zigbee-based smart gear who want it visible in a Matter ecosystem, and budget smart homes that want one $120 box to be their Matter controller, Thread border router, and IKEA bridge at once.

The sentences taken off the page: 'We will offer support on smart products from IKEA for at least five years after purchase, if paired with DIRIGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway to ensure that your smart products from IKEA: Works with applicable IKEA Home smart app. Gets security updates.' The same page sets a separate floor for the hardware those products pair with: 'We will offer support for a minimum of three years after purchase, to ensure the hub / gateway: Works with the IKEA Home smart app / IKEA Home Smart 1. Gets security updates. Gets updates to ensure compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant.' Both windows are measured from the purchase date rather than from a launch date. On what happens afterwards: 'Yes! You can continue to use your smart products from IKEA even after the end of our software support. For example, you will still be able to turn your lights on and off, take your blinds up and down and use the hub / gateway on your local network even without an internet connection.' The policy defines the class it covers: products marked 'Works with IKEA Home smart' are 'smart products from IKEA that can be controlled with an applicable app if paired with DIRIGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway'. It names DIRIGERA, the TRÅDFRI gateway and SYMFONISK speakers, and it carries no last-updated date. — Read on the maker's own site, verified 2026-09-18
