- No batteries — wired power only (USB-C, 5V/1A, constant power required). Aqara states automations can execute locally without internet, but initial setup, zone editing, and firmware updates go through the cloud-connected Aqara app; 2.4 GHz WiFi required, 5 GHz not supported.
The catch
It needs constant USB-C power and 2.4 GHz WiFi, has no Matter support and no official SmartThings listing, and every detection zone must be drawn and maintained in the Aqara app.
Who it's for
Fits rooms where PIR motion sensors fail — desks, sofas, reading chairs — for people running Apple Home or Home Assistant who can supply wall power and want multi-zone, room-scale presence without a hub.
