The catch

An Alexa command centre, not a neutral hub. The radios are real — Zigbee, Thread, Matter, Bluetooth and Sidewalk are all built in — but everything they connect to lands inside Alexa, and the panel is a Matter controller rather than a bridge, so nothing paired to it is re-exposed to Apple Home, Google Home or SmartThings. Two of the things that make it look tidy on a wall cost extra: the counter stand and the Power-over-Ethernet adapter are both sold separately.

Who it's for

Alexa-first homes that want one wall-mounted panel instead of reaching for a phone, and that are happy for the Zigbee and Thread devices behind it to live in Alexa only. Wrong fit for anyone who wants those devices visible to a second ecosystem.
