EcosystemSupportThe catch
Amazon AlexaDoesn't workVerified: does not work with this ecosystem[2][4]App-only ecosystem — no voice or platform integrations anywhere in Aiper's line
Google HomeDoesn't workVerified: does not work with this ecosystem[2][4][7]App-only per Aiper's own Scuba S1 product page and support pages (Aiper app control, cleaning modes, OTA updates — no platform integrations listed); Aiper advertises Alexa/Google Assistant voice control only on the newer Scuba V3 Ultra, not the S1.
Apple HomeDoesn't workVerified: does not work with this ecosystem[2][4][7]No HomeKit or Siri support anywhere in Aiper's S1 product page, support pages, or app listing — control is via the Aiper app only.
SmartThingsDoesn't workVerified: does not work with this ecosystem[2][4][7]SmartThings is not mentioned on any Aiper product or support page, and no Aiper listing appears in SmartThings partner/supported-device results.
Home AssistantDoesn't workVerified: does not work with this ecosystem[2][4]No official or community integration of note; cloud app only

It reports

None documented by the vendor

Listed capabilities are what we could establish from vendor documentation. An ability missing here is unestablished — not necessarily absent.

Subscription reality[1][3]

✓ Works without a subscription: Yes.

Vendor account required: Not established — we have not sourced this yet.

Aiper's own FAQ: 'no subscriptions, hidden fees, or hassle' — re-checked 2026-08-09 and still the right call: nothing about the cleaner's operation is gated behind a recurring payment. Recorded so the page is not read as contradicting itself: the 'Aiper Care' tiers ($79/$129/$199) now shown on the product page are ONE-OFF extended-protection purchases, and 'AiperPoints' is a loyalty scheme — neither is a subscription and neither gates any function.

Maintenance reality[1][5]

The catch

The budget-cordless price leader carries a documented risk profile: two CPSC burn/fire recalls on OTHER Aiper models (Elite Pro 2023; Seagull Pro 2025, ~32,660 units, 19 melting/smoking/fire reports), a BBB F rating for leaving 58 of 59 complaints unanswered, and recurring owner complaints about battery death near the warranty line and refurb 'replacements.' Product-class limits too: 2.4 GHz-only WiFi that syncs with the robot out of the water, battery-session cleaning with a 3–4 h recharge between runs.

Who it's for

In-ground pools to ~1,600 sq ft wanting the most cordless cleaning-per-dollar (~$550) — buy from an authorized channel, keep the receipt, and go in eyes-open on the support gamble.
