Aiper's own FAQ: 'no subscriptions, hidden fees, or hassle' — re-checked 2026-08-09 and still the right call: nothing about the cleaner's operation is gated behind a recurring payment. Recorded so the page is not read as contradicting itself: the 'Aiper Care' tiers ($79/$129/$199) now shown on the product page are ONE-OFF extended-protection purchases, and 'AiperPoints' is a loyalty scheme — neither is a subscription and neither gates any function.

Maintenance reality^[1][5]

Negative reviews cluster on batteries failing near the warranty boundary (~11 months). ⚠ NEW AND WORTH SEEING BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT (observed 2026-08-09): Aiper now sells three one-off 'Aiper Care' protection plans against this cleaner — Essential $79, Plus $129, Pro $199 — offering extended coverage, faster repairs, free consumables and, on the upper tiers, damage repairs and a 90- or 180-day replacement guarantee. They are optional add-on purchases, not a subscription, and nothing about the cleaner requires one; they are recorded because on a product whose owner complaints concentrate on out-of-warranty battery failure, a paid extended-warranty upsell is material context. Aiper's own store now leads with 270 minutes of runtime where the product page states 'Up to 180 Minutes' with a 3-4 hour charge.

The catch

The budget-cordless price leader carries a documented risk profile: two CPSC burn/fire recalls on OTHER Aiper models (Elite Pro 2023; Seagull Pro 2025, ~32,660 units, 19 melting/smoking/fire reports), a BBB F rating for leaving 58 of 59 complaints unanswered, and recurring owner complaints about battery death near the warranty line and refurb 'replacements.' Product-class limits too: 2.4 GHz-only WiFi that syncs with the robot out of the water, battery-session cleaning with a 3–4 h recharge between runs.

Who it's for

In-ground pools to ~1,600 sq ft wanting the most cordless cleaning-per-dollar (~$550) — buy from an authorized channel, keep the receipt, and go in eyes-open on the support gamble.
