⚠ Similar names, different products: This is the Sensibo model without Apple HomeKit. Sensibo's own comparison guide marks HomeKit '—' for the Sky and '✓' for the Air and Air PRO, and the Sky's product page FAQ says it in words: 'Sensibo Air supports Apple Homekit. Sensibo Sky does not support Apple Homekit.' The Sky's spec table still lists 'Apple Siri' among its integrations, which is Siri Shortcuts and not Apple Home — that pairing of a present Siri line and an absent HomeKit one is exactly how a buyer ends up with the wrong box.

Same Energy Saver Plan as the rest of the line — $30/year, or $6/month billed monthly — and the Sky is explicitly eligible. The free side is the control side: app control, schedules, timers, geofencing, filter reminders, device sharing, PureBoost and Climate React. The plan adds energy statistics, the Optimus AI optimizer, Anti-Mold, AC Health Check, an AI assistant, advanced statistics, Auto-Off, an extended 12-month warranty and a store discount. ⚠ Note what the plan does NOT buy back: no subscription tier adds Apple HomeKit to a Sky. That is a hardware-tier difference, not a paywall.

Maintenance reality^[2][6]

• Works without the internet: No — the core function depends on the vendor's servers, so an outage takes it with them.^[4]
• Mains-powered by a supplied 5V 1A micro-USB adapter (110–240V), so it needs an outlet near the AC unit. Radios as published: Sensibo's Sky spec table names WiFi only — 'WiFi, 802.11 b/g/n @ 2.4GHz, DHCP or static IP addressing, SSL encryption' — with no second radio listed, unlike the Air PRO, whose table names a BLE radio beside the WiFi one. 2.4 GHz only, no 5 GHz. No air-quality sensing on this model.
• Security updates: Sensibo publishes no security-update support date for this model. That is a gap in what the manufacturer has published, not evidence either way — some makers declare a support period and some say nothing at all.^[2]

The catch

Two catches, and the first is the reason to read the model name carefully. This is the Sensibo without Apple Home — same app, same voice assistants, same automation, but a Sky will not appear in Apple's Home app, and no subscription changes that. The $20 step up to the Air is what buys it. The second catch it shares with the whole line: it is an infrared blaster. Sensibo controls the air conditioner by imitating the handset, which is why it works with almost any AC or heat pump that came with a remote, and also why it is talking at the unit rather than with it. On split systems that mostly does not bite. On window and portable ACs it does, and Sensibo documents it: those units take relative commands rather than absolute ones — 'increase temperature by 1 degree' instead of 'set to 72°F' — so the moment somebody presses a button on the AC itself, the app's idea of the state and the unit's real state drift apart, and you fix it by realigning them by hand and then using only the app. There is also no local control path at all: every integration runs through Sensibo's cloud and account, so an internet outage leaves you with the original remote. Matter appears nowhere in Sensibo's material.

Who it's for

The cheapest way into app, voice and schedule control for a mini-split, window or portable AC you are not replacing — and it is a genuinely fair deal if your household runs on Alexa, Google or SmartThings, because those work exactly as they do on the pricier models and Climate React, the sensor-driven automation, is free on this tier too. It is the wrong model for an Apple household: buy the Air instead. It is also a poor fit if you need the AC to stay under smart control when the internet drops, if you want Matter, or if you run a window unit that people also operate by hand.
