The catch
The catch is what happens to this lamp when the internet is not there, and Oasis is refreshingly direct about it: 'While the ambient does not need Wifi to turn on, it does require WiFi to connect with the app and enable tone adjustment, brightness or scheduling.' So without WiFi it is a lamp that switches on — the automatic sun-following behaviour that is the entire pitch, plus brightness and colour tone, all live behind the app. There is no local control path, no hub option and no physical dimmer. Second, the buying unit is not one lamp: Oasis sells the Ambient only in packs of two, four or eight, and its own guidance is to use two or three per wall, so the realistic spend for a room is $160 rather than $90. Third, and this is the honest limit of what anyone can tell you today: Oasis publishes no spec sheet. No wattage, no lumens, no colour-temperature range, no certification, no model number, and no radio or protocol named anywhere — WiFi is known only because a FAQ answer mentions needing it.
