- Matter gives local basic control, but a First Alert account is mandatory before the thermostat will even generate a Matter pairing code, and schedules, air-quality trends, and geofencing all run through the First Alert cloud/app. Hardwired: C-wire strictly required, no adapter option. Dual-band WiFi (2.4/5 GHz, 802.11ax).

Matter exposure is minimal — temperature, setpoint, and mode only, with schedules and all air-quality data locked to the First Alert app; a Resideo account is required before Matter pairing; C-wire is mandatory with no adapter path; and T9 room sensors probably won't carry over (budget $45/room for XRSENSORs).
